The Gundersons are known for their discerning taste, and indeed this auction off ering exemplifi es excellence at all levels. There are troves of delights for any collector and a breadth of wines that demand focused exploration. Those who take the time will be rewarded with myriad opportunities for discovery across every region represented. Well-known winemakers appear in equal measure with newcomers or wines rarely found at auction—original wood cases of 1989 Haut-Brion and 2000 Lafi te Rothschild alongside the insider icon 1982 Magdelaine; two dozen of 1999 Clos de la Roche, Domaine Ponsot followed by an exploration of the terroirs of Gevrey-Chambertin via the bottlings of Dominique Gallois or Gerard Harmand-Geoff roy; deep caches of Coche-Dury and Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in the same lineup as Ballot-Millot, Henri Germain and Comtesse de Cherisey. The impressive range of Californian wines includes both powerhouses such as Harlan Estate and Joseph Phelps Eisele and brands scarcely seen at auction like Corison and Domaine de la Côte. The family’s exploration in wine began in California but gradually spread across the globe. The Gundersons lived in California at a time when there was a natural exposure to and excitement for the wines of the region. As is so often the case, friends who were a few steps ahead in the collecting process exposed the Gundersons to wines from France (particularly Burgundy and Bordeaux). They became regular attendees of Carmel Food & Wine Festival and traveled extensively throughout France and Italy. That early love of exploration and discovery continues to this day. In addition to wine, the Gundersons are avid art collectors and serious students of architecture. With years of experience buying art at auction, they are well versed on the importance of great provenance, pristine condition, and stewardship of their property. The wines in The Gunderson Family Collection have been purchased over four decades, nearly all from well-regarded retailers or directly from the wineries. Storage has always been under temperature- and humidity-control in state-of-the-art professional facilities. Explore the exceptional variety of wines made available by the Gunderson family and bid with confi dence.
