His wine journey began in the early '70s, when he developed a discerning palate and keen interest in the wines of Bordeaux. The famed La Mission Haut-Brion was a favorite from the beginning, while 1966 Mouton provided an epiphany, which served as the metaphorical bug-bite. Starting out with a single bottle lot of 1969 Pétrus and carrying on through the next four decades with historic vintages from both banks, Bordeaux enthusiasts will fi nd themselves spoiled for choice by the extent of this selection. First Growths in large format – including double-magnums of '95 Latour and Mouton – are among the highlights available, alongside twelve-bottle off erings from either side of the river, notably the prized 1989 Haut-Brion and 2000 Mouton. While Bordeaux is the focus here there are opportunities to be found from all over the great wine regions of the world, including three vintages from Château Rayas, fi ve bottles of 1988 Salon, and an impressive showing from Dalla Valle’s fl agship Maya. A prominent member of the Miami wine community, Mr. Villalobos has spent his years collecting with a constant mind towards impeccable sourcing and storage. The bottles on off er here were acquired almost entirely upon release or as futures and stored in pristine, sub-50° temperature-controlled conditions. Bidders should compete with the utmost confi dence to bring home a piece of this monumental collection.
